| During its more than thirty years of history,
INECO has adapted its personnel and resources to market demands and requirements,
and now has an overall range of services taking in all forms of transport
and covering everything from feasibility studies for a particular course
of action to integrated project management, and from basic infrastructure
to transport-related business or services. In 1999, INECO acquired 49% of TIFSA (Tecnología e Investigación Ferroviaria S.A), with the aim of integrating the different areas of transport engineering to facilitate complete control of final work, and to expand the services it offers in the railway sector in Spain and abroad. TIFSA has encouraged technological development in the railway field and provided technical assistance, design studies and project engineering in all kinds of civil and industrial engineering. For the last four years, the two companies have been acting as a single unit in terms of production. |

| Activities in the
Navigation domain: INECO also participates in the development and implementation of the present and future satellite navigation system and its application to the different modes of transport. Regarding Air Transport, INECO is involved in a number of studies for Aena, mainly related to the operational implementation of the GNSS, including GNSS trials, GBAS introduction in Spanish airports, flight procedure design and GNSS airworthiness certification. INECO is also currently working for the Spanish National Civil Aviation Authority within the GNSS Implementation Programme in the Air Navigation system of Spain. In the application of satellite navigation to Railway, apart from the participation in the APOLO project, it is very significant to note the leading participation (INECO is the coordinator and TIFSA a main technical partner) in the 5FP project GADEROS, the Galileo Pilot Project for Railways, which intends to promote and demonstrate the applicability of GNSS location for Safety of Life railway applications; this position also puts INECO in a privileged position in the currently ongoing introduction of Galileo into Railway. |

| INECO-TIFSA as member
of Galileo Services: INECO-TIFSA is the more important consultancy and engineering firm dedicated to the transport sector in Spain. The intermodal character of the group and the day to day involvement in the development of transport systems and infrastructures puts INECO-TIFSA in a privileged position to deal with the application of GNSS to the different means of transport. INECO-TIFSA is a strong supporter of the development of Galileo, with the firm belief that it will become a fundamental factor in the transport sector in the near future. In this way, INECO-TIFSA has become a member of Galileo Services, the key player for the downstream and application market of Galileo. For more information: www.ineco.es |
