Eutelsat

About Eutelsat :

With capacity on 23 communications satellites which provide coverage from the Americas to the Pacific, Eutelsat S.A. is Europe’s largest satellite operator and the fourth largest at global level. The company’s satellite system is operated through its own control centre and other teleports in Europe, with additional monitoring services supplied in the Indian sub-continent and Africa. Since the entry into service of its first-generation satellites in the 1980s, Eutelsat has designed, procured and financed more than 25 satellites, principally from Alcatel, EADS and Alenia Spazio, and launched with Ariane, Atlas, Delta and Proton rockets from bases in French Guiana, Cape Canaveral and Baikonur. Eutelsat satellites broadcast more than 1,300 television and 700 radio stations to 107 million cable and satellite homes in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. Its capacity is also used for satellite newsgathering by broadcasters and news agencies and for over 750 VSAT networks that serve companies and administrations in the energy, retail, government and disaster recover sectors. IP applications include broadband Internet access for businesses, regional authorities and individuals, and Internet backbone connections for Internet Service Providers. Eutelsat’s turnkey EutelTRACS messaging and positioning service is used for fleet management for 25,000 trucks and fishing vessels. Its emsat mobile service provides positioning, voice, SMS and fax services for fleet operators and users in maritime markets.
