About Eutelsat :
With capacity on 23 communications satellites which provide coverage from
the Americas to the Pacific, Eutelsat S.A. is Europe’s largest satellite
operator and the fourth largest at global level. The company’s satellite
system is operated through its own control centre and other teleports in
Europe, with additional monitoring services supplied in the Indian sub-continent
and Africa. Since the entry into service of its first-generation satellites
in the 1980s, Eutelsat has designed, procured and financed more than 25
satellites, principally from Alcatel, EADS and Alenia Spazio, and launched
with Ariane, Atlas, Delta and Proton rockets from bases in French Guiana,
Cape Canaveral and Baikonur. Eutelsat satellites broadcast more than 1,300
television and 700 radio stations to 107 million cable and satellite homes
in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. Its capacity is also used for
satellite newsgathering by broadcasters and news agencies and for over 750
VSAT networks that serve companies and administrations in the energy, retail,
government and disaster recover sectors. IP applications include broadband
Internet access for businesses, regional authorities and individuals, and
Internet backbone connections for Internet Service Providers. Eutelsat’s
turnkey EutelTRACS messaging and positioning service is used for fleet management
for 25,000 trucks and fishing vessels. Its emsat mobile service provides
positioning, voice, SMS and fax services for fleet operators and users in
maritime markets. |
